Makaira

Product Design2026

MAKAIRA is a mask made in resin with an airbrush coating. Inspired by the anatomy of the Atlantic Blue Marlin, this piece explores the potential of tribes utilizing biomimicry as survival technology. Part of an ongoing collection imagining ceremonial artifacts shaped by nature, the mask transforms the skeletal structures of Makaira nigricans into ritual armor and weaponry — where the bill becomes a blade, cranial forms become protection, and organic anatomy evolves into cultural design language. A speculative relic from civilizations that learned from predators instead of conquering them.
