Cerambycidae

Product Design2026

CERAMBYCIDAE is an eyewear piece 3D-modeled in VR using Gravity Sketch, inspired by the exoskeletal armor and mandibular structures of longhorn beetles (family Cerambycidae). The outer shell is 3D-printed in stainless steel, polished to a mirror finish, and inlaid with hand-set natural amethyst cabochons that function as decorative lenses. The structure references the beetle’s segmented thorax and protruding antennae bases, reinterpreted as sculptural geometry. CERAMBYCIDAE investigates how coleopteran morphology can be abstracted into a wearable object — bridging entomological research, digital sculpture, and jewelry-grade fabrication.
