Lutanos

Product Design2026

A mask whose name comes from Lucifer, giving the piece a darker symbolic presence connected to fall, power, and transformation. To build this demonic feeling through form, Yanly implemented characteristics of horn beetles, especially the five-horned rhinoceros beetle, Eupatorus gracilicornis, a species known for its multiple horn structures and armored body. Rather than representing a literal demon, Lutanos uses biomimicry to turn insect anatomy into a ritual face. The horns and pointed edges echo the defensive and combative features of Eupatorus gracilicornis, while the layered surface suggests an exoskeleton shaped for protection and dominance. The result is a mask that feels both biological and mythic: an insect-inspired armor carrying the intensity of a demonic figure.
