Black Purple Branding
Black Purple — Brand Identity Development Yanly Erh collaborated with Korean brand Black Purple during the development of their first clothing collection, supporting the transition of the label from womenswear into a gender-neutral brand. The work focused on redefining the brand’s identity through creative direction, art direction, and visual strategy, helping establish a cohesive universe that could position the brand within a more experimental and culturally connected context. The visual language developed for the collection was strongly influenced by underground scenes from the UK, referencing raw club culture, independent radio aesthetics, and DIY creative communities. The direction emphasized authenticity, spontaneity, and subcultural energy, shaping an environment where fashion, music, and visual expression coexist as part of the same ecosystem. Multiple photoshoots and video campaigns were produced to introduce the collection, building a consistent narrative across image and motion. The goal was to create a recognizable atmosphere that feels immersive and slightly unpolished, reinforcing the connection to underground creative spaces rather than traditional commercial fashion imagery. As part of the project, Yanly also contributed to event production for the collection launch, organizing a hybrid presentation format that combined fashion, performance, and community activation. The event took place in one of Seoul’s most relevant underground radio platforms, bringing together live music performances, tattoo activations, and clothing customization moments, allowing the audience to interact directly with the brand’s universe while discovering the new collection. In addition to creative direction and production, Yanly developed graphic design assets for the project, including the event flyer and visual communication materials, ensuring consistency between digital presence, physical experience, and brand narrative. The project positioned Black Purple within a broader cultural dialogue that connects fashion with music scenes, independent media platforms, and emerging creative communities.
